Summary: The Leps are still on top.
Comment: This album has some good, old fashioned Def Leppard sound. Easily up to par with "X" and "Euphoria." Several songs will ranked high and played regularly on your iPod. It's nice to have another great and original Def Leppard album in my collection.

Summary: Def Leppard and Britney Spears on tour soon in your city!
Comment: Just when I didn't think Def Leppard could become more of a pop band than they were on "X" along comes the new disc. While it is not a terrible album, it shows the band moving further and further toward a pop sound that sounds nothing like their 80s heyday. This is actually the first Def Leppard album in recent memory that had a track that I absolutely hated. "Love" has to be the worst track ever recorded by these guys. I think the band needs to go back and listen to their 80s output along with Euphoria before putting out the next album. That is if they want to keep saying their new albums are in the vein of their previous rockers. I would love to know where all the rockers are located on this disc according to reviewer J.C.Amos. He was either listening to a different album than I was or is completely tone deaf.......

Summary: Good, but the first thing in 6 years?
Comment: Let me start by telling you im a die hard Def Leppard fan. I have been a fan through thick and thin from 1983. I have stuck up for them in the 90s, and had been there when they had everyone beat. Even in my 40's I still purchase all material, and see them every time there in town!
I have been lookinf ofr new music from them for the last 5 years. It is always, another 4months, then another year because of this album or this tour. So finally, a new record, and all the talk about it, and the time they had to make it, I though this could be the best thing they have put out since Hysteria. Boy, I was in for a shock. Im all for changing with the times and al that. And in most cases, Def Leppard records need at least 10 tmes trough your ears to see if your going to like the record or not. That has been a staple with any of there record from day one. Thre had alays been the 3-4 great songs that you knew would be hits as soon as you listened to them the first time, and the you had to replay the rest of it 10 times to see if therest of it is any good. And most of the time, it is great. Not this time at all. Like I said, I am the one that is defending there music to everyone, so im not one to bad mouth anythng they do, but this is NOT a good record. As much as I hate to say it, it's just not that good. And having 6 years to do it, they should feel ashamed they even put it out. Ther are maybe 4 good tunes on the entire record. And that to me, is a joke to even put something like that out from them after six years!
Im very disapointed by this release, and there is only one thing that can be done if they are going to continue to put out record, AND THAT IS TO BRING BACK MUTT LANGE!!!!!!
They have said all the things they can about not using Mutt anymore, but this time, im sorry, they need him back. It is the only possible way they are going to get back on the map of great Def Leppard music. I mean the first week out, the record came in at #5, then the next week, it came in at #30, and then #100, and then gone. 3 weeks and gone! itunes had them listen in the top 100 records for one week, and then it disapeared! That is flat out sad. At least stick near the bottom for a month or 2. They dont even stay there for 3 weeks. Even here on Amazon,I dont think it is in the top 1000 sold records after 2 months. That is horrible. This is new music, the first in 6 years, and you cant find it on the charts anyplace! Not good at all

Im not going to sit here and bash my favorite group of all time, but im very disapointed at this record. I though i could have been so much more, and everytime they took a long time, it had shown on the new work, because it was great. This is not great, not even good, it ok. Ok is not good enough. Not even close. Guys, the missing piece is Mutt Lange. Just look at your track record. its he only thing you have not tried since you have not used him. From the time he stopped doing your records, the songs have just gone down hil, and every record you try something new, that does not seem to catch on. But every record Mutt has put out from the time he stopped working on your stuff, is another top hit. So, I think its time to start using Mut again ASAP!!!!! Pleaee, its the best thing you can do.

Comment: I am by no means a die hard fan of Def Leppard, but I thought High 'n Dry, Pyromania and Hysteria were great albums. After Hysterian, Def Leppard chose to take a different path in their musical journey and I didn't go along for the ride. But after the recent surge in great rock albums coming out as of late, I decided to check this CD out and was amazed at how good it is. Def Leppard is back to rockin with fun up tempo songs and also a pretty good ballad. I'm glad to be back on the ride again.

Album Release Kicks Off With U.S. Spring Concert Tour!

Def Leppard, Great Britain's premiere arena rock band, is back with a bang--kicking off 2008 with the release of their 14th studio album and a U.S. arena concert tour scheduled for this spring. Entitled Songs From The Sparkle Lounge (Bludgeon Riffola/Island/UMe), the album contains 11 new songs including the highly-anticipated single "Nine Lives" featuring a groundbreaking collaboration with country music superstar Tim McGraw. Songs From The Sparkle Lounge is Def Leppard's first album of brand new material since 2002's X and begins yet another remarkable new chapter in the band's 30-year recording career.

Recorded last year during month-long stints at lead singer Joe Elliott's Dublin studio, the album's title refers to a backstage area called "The Sparkle Lounge" on Def Leppard's 2006 tour where the band would go to write songs. Tracks from the album have been described by the group as written in the style of Hysteria, with the production of High 'n' Dry.

"The whole record's got a great '70s feel," said lead singer Joe Elliott. "By our standards, it's a very different album as we've been very adventurous, musically, on certain numbers. On the album there are classic Def Leppard songs and then there's also tracks that are very new-wave influenced while others sound like middle-to-late '70s AC/DC. There will definitely be some moments on it where anybody that's familiar with our music will go, 'Whoa! I wasn't expecting that!'"

The foundation for the album's collaboration with country music superstar Tim McGraw was layed at Def Leppard's 2006 Hollywood Bowl show where McGraw joined the band on stage for an encore performance of "Pour Some Sugar on Me." The artists stayed in touch following the performance, and when the band started writing the song "Nine Lives" they immediately thought of reaching out to McGraw to sing on it. Guitarist Phil Collen flew to Nashville to play it for McGraw who loved it and recorded the song in Nashville shortly after. Other standout tracks on the album include "Go," reminiscent of the band's classic track "Rocket" in its power and aggressive tribal beat; "Love," an emotive and moving epic song; and the anthemic "Tomorrow," a song written by guitarist Collen about the death of his father.
