Customer Rating: Summary: Aerosmith-Toys in the Attic Comment: This was the one cd I did not have in my collection. As usual the songs were all GREAT. The sound quality was very good. I have enjoyed listening to this cd many times.
Customer Rating: Summary: Whoops Comment: Wanted Aerosmith represented in my collection, but I think the live album might have been a better bet. This one just gathers dust.
Customer Rating: Summary: "Baby I'm a Dreamer, Found My Horse and Carriage..." Comment: Second on the all time greatest Aerosmith albums list to the irrepressable ROCKS, Toys In The Attic saw the boys from Boston take flight and craft one of the all time classics of hard rock. It's most well known tracks are the uber cool "Sweet Emotion" and genre spanning "Walk This Way" which have been enduring radio staples for years. The album tracks are just as good. "No More No More" is a fantastic song detailing life on the road with great instrumentation, arrangement, lyrics and delivery with just a touch of sentimentality that makes the song one of the band's best. The album shows the band acknowledging their influences as well, "Round And Round" is Aerosmith at their absolute heaviest sounding with a thunderous Zeppelin riff while "Adam's Apple" is very Stonesy and would have fit perfectly on Sticky Fingers. The title track leads off the album and is a storming opener with great guitars and that classic repeating chorus "TOYS,TOYS,TOYS...IN THE ATTIC!". A must have for fans of hard rock pick this up with ROCKS today!
Customer Rating: Summary: No Obvious Weaknesses Comment: What some consider to be Aerosmith's best album, Toys in the Attic certainly delivers a rock n' roll wallop! There just isn't a weak track to be found, here. If you're new to Aerosmith, this might be a good place to start. Filler that is anything-but comes between more well known Aerosmith tracks, like "Toys in the Attic," "Walk This Way," and "Sweet Emotion," but great albums aren't simply a collection of hits, and Toys delivers from top to bottom. If you like rock n' roll, I can't imagine how you might not like this album.
Customer Rating: Summary: Rock 'n' roll goodness! Comment: This is the kind of 70s rock album that pretty much redeems all of the worst excesses of that decade. It's a collection of rock songs that really rock, that heave with sweaty bar band abandon and gin-soaked blues swagger, dripping with sleaze and mean excitement, with a few hazy ballads thrown in for balance. It's fun, it's crankable, and it rocks like a mother. I mean, this thing's got the gleefully sleazy "Walk This Way" AND the deathless rockstar anthem that is "Sweet Emotion," for cryin' out loud! It's also got the storming title track, and the beaten reveries of "No More No More" and "You See Me Crying." Plus, there's the sheer awesomeness of "Uncle Salty" and "Adam's Apple." Now there's a rock album!

Editorial Reviews:
|
Originally released in 1975, this was Aerosmith's breakout recording. Listeners only familiar with their more recent, post-comeback material may be surprised; like their other albums from the 1970s, Toys has a strong blues inflection, as indicated by their cover of "Big Ten Inch Record," which also shows that Aerosmith has never lacked raunchiness or innuendo. There's also the original (pre-Run-D.M.C.) version of "Walk This Way," and the classic "Sweet Emotion." This is classic Aerosmith at its gritty, streetwise best; they may have been derivative, but it really doesn't matter, then or now: it's all in good fun. --Genevieve Williams
