Summary: Get on with the facination of Rush
Comment: This is my favorite cd of Rush. I bought this as my first Rush album. The songs of side 2 of album are on this cd. after that, I became a Rush fan after buying all their albums from there on. Enjoy.

Summary: Rush, "Moving Pictures", 1981
Comment: A classic progressive rock album. This has too be one of the greatest rock albums made of all time defenentally in the top 100 greatest albums of all time. Everything on here sounds great the drums vocals etc. Rush was becoming a big band around this time Rush was becoming a pretty big band and Moving Pictures made them huge. It has sold millions and millions of copies around the world.
Some of Rush's greatest songs are on this album, Tom Sawyer, YYZ, Limelight, and many other great songs. To date Rush still plays some of the songs on this album live. This album is just perfect in every single way. Plus the price on here is too beat only 7.97 that is a great deal. All in all if you like rock music you should buy this album of Rush and these other two albums, 2112, Farewell To Kings.

Summary: another effort from Rush
Comment: Not their best album, but close to it. I've never been a fan of "Red Barchetta" because the quiet vocals that build up in the beginning just pass by harmlessly, but not really excitedly. Almost like the band wanted to open the song with mellow vocals without caring a whole lot about making them interesting to the listener. I guess when the song gets going and the rocking section comes in, it improves. "Tom Sawyer" is a classic as well. What makes the other songs memorable is the fact that, this is an 80's album, and the band still had the spirit of the late 70's prog rock movement on their minds, because many of these songs could be from the 70's and I wouldn't know the difference. Great album.

Summary: The Second Installment in Rush's Ultimate 80s Trilogy
Comment: MOVING PICTURES is the second installment in Rush's ultimate 80s trilogy of forward-thinking progressive rock albums. Slightly darker in tone than PERMANENT WAVES, this CD finds bassist-singer Geddy Lee exploring his lower range even more than its predecessor did, although he still sings in a high voice on songs like "Tom Sawyer", a commentary on the nature of the male gender and how men can be tempted to push themselves, and others, too hard. "Limelight", on the other hand, is about stardom and how it affects those who achieve it, leading to them demanding attention even from those who can't give it due to attention disorders. This album will leave you thinking for days about what its lyrics mean.

Summary: A Perfect Album, Start to Finish
Comment: Moving Pictures comes in the middle of what I feel is Rush's most fertile period, the Hemispheres-Power Windows era. This is where it all comes together for Lee/Lifeson/Peart. Every composition on this record is a winner. I can't believe Alex Lifeson is still so underrated as a guitarist, as he really shines on this recording.
If you are just getting into Rush - forget the Greatest Hits/Compilations. Start Here, then 2112, then Counterparts, then work your way up.

With Moving Pictures, Rush's complex songwriting and musical virtuosity reached new heights. It's that rarest of creatures, a highly listenable progressive-rock album; even the all-instrumental "YYZ" is of interest to listeners besides musicians. The highlight of the album is "Limelight"; like many progressive-rock bands, Rush writes songs about the experience of being on-stage. The result is impressive, with almost orchestral arrangements that never overwhelm the actual music. "Tom Sawyer," another classic, is on this album, as well as the science-fiction-meets-road-movie "Red Barchetta," the epic "The Camera Eye," the cautionary "Witch Hunt," and "Vital Signs," which takes advantage of the budding digital sound technology available at the time the album was recorded. This is probably Rush's best album; it's definitely their most accessible. --Genevieve Williams
